Bela Moreira’s Own HakeBela Moreira’s Own Hake is a different way to cook hake. There are already several ways to cook hake, such as boiled, fried, as well as cooked in marinade sauce… Very versatile and easy to make, the hake is almost mandatory is every fridge.

The ingredients for 4 people are:

  • 4 hake loins
  • 1/4 cup (1.65 fl. oz / 0.5 dl) of cold milk
  • Wheat flour to your taste
  • 8 tablespoons (4.2 ounces / 120 grams) of margarine
  • 1 small beet
  • 1 big tomato
  • 1 lemon, salt and pepper to your taste
  • Oil
  • Chopped parsley

How to make Bela Moreira’s Own Hake

  • Start this recipe by seasoning the fish with salt, pepper and lemon juice and leave it for an hour to acquire flavour.
  • Then, dip the fish in milk and wrap it in flour.
  • Fry the fish a little in very hot oil before putting it in the oven to finish cooking.
  • Wash the tomato and chop it in 4 slices seasoned with salt. Wrap the tomato slices in flour and fried them quickly.
  • Meanwhile, take the fish from the oven, put it in a tray and put a slice of fried tomato on top of each piece of fish.
  • Put the margarine in a frying pan and let it heat a little, then add the juice of half a lemon.

This sauce is used to put on top of the hake loins along with the chopped parsley. If you wish, you can decorate the tray with some slices of lemon, beet and lettuce. As a side dish for this recipe, we suggest mash potatoes or boiled potatoes.
