Carrot jam

Carrot Jam
Carrot jam goes well with rusks or toasts and it can also be used in cakes, pies, etc. It’s quick and easy to make.

Start this recipe by peeling and cook 2 2/3 cups (1.3 pounds/600 grams) of carrots in water, then when they are cooked, use a food mill or any other utensil that can turn carrots into mash.

Ingredients for Carrot Jam:

  • About 1 3/4 cups (14.10 ounces /400 grams) of carrot mash.
  • One bread, squashed after being dipped in cold water.
  • One cinnamon stick.
  • 1 1/3 cups (10.59 ounces/300 grams) of sugar.
  • And you can add grated peels of lemon or orange if you like.

How to make Carrot Jam:

  • When all the necessary ingredients are gathered, start by mixing the carrot mash, sugar, grated peels of lemon or orange and bread very well.
  • After mixing everything, you may add the cinnamon stick and place this mixture on heath, letting it boil for 6 seconds, all the while stirring it so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
  • Take it out of the stove and pour it into the containers where you would like to keep the jam, remove the cinnamon stick and leave it to cool.
  • Now your Carrot Jam is ready to use whenever you like.

You can add other ingredients like port wine, nuts, etc.
