Pear Pie

Pear PieThis is a very tasty recipe from Portugal and it’s very used in parties and desserts.

This Pear Pie serves 6 people.

The first thing you should make in this recipe is the dough.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 5 tablespoons (2.6 ounces / 75 grams) of margarine
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup (4.4 ounces / 125 grams) of flour
  • 1/4 cup (1.7 ounces / 50 grams) of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder

First, add the flour, the margarine, the sugar and the baking powder and knead it all very well.

Then, add the egg yolk and knead again- Wrap everything in flour and knead it very well in order to get a short-crust dough.

Leave the dough to rest for at least 30 minutes.

Powder the table with flour so that you can lay the dough without it sticking and spread it with a rolling pin.

After spreading the dough, shape the pie with it.

Ingredients for the Pear Pie filling:

  • Clear jelly to brush on the pie
  • A few drops of lemon juice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup (7 ounces /200 grams) of sugar
  • 4 tablespoons (1.7 ounces / 50 grams) of margarine
  • 1.5 pounds (700 grams) of ripe pears

Start by peeling the pears and slicing them in eight pieces to cover the bottom of the dough.

Melt the margarine and add the sugar, stir it well.

Add two eggs and a few lemon drops and keep stirring.

Pour this mixture on the pears and then put the pie on an oven at medium temperature for 40 to 50 minutes.

When the pie is cooked, remove it from the oven, let it cool and you can brush it with the jelly.

We advise you to serve the pie without removing the leaf from the bottom of the pan because it is very tender and crumbly.
