  • 2.3 ounces (80 grams) of ham
  • 1 egg yolk (to brush the mashed potatoes)
  • 3.3 pounds (1.5 kilos) of potatoes
  • 1/2 cup (1 decilitre) of milk
  • Salt, pepper, and nutmeg to your taste

How to make Our Own Shepherd’s Pie recipe:

  • First, make a stew using 3 tablespoons(1.4 ounces /40 grams) of margarine, and add oil, onion and chopped garlic as well. Let it sear.
  • Then, add the meat and stir it continuously to make sure it stays parted. Season it with salt and pepper and add the white wine and the tomato pulp after that. Let it braise for about 10 to 15 minutes and stir it from time to time.
  • Meanwhile, start making the mashed potatoes with potatoes (already cooked), milk and the rest of the margarine. Season the mashed potatoes with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  • When it’s ready, put one layer of mashed potatoes at the bottom of a pyrex tray and smooth it.
  • Spread the meat on top of it, straighten it and put the ham sliced into small pieces and the boiled egg cut in circles on top of the meat.
  • If you want to embellish your shepherd’s pie in a different way, use a bag beak to spread the mashed potatoes and draw lines until you cover the meat.

When you finish, brush the mashed potatoes with egg and put the tray in the oven.
