Vanilla Cake

vanilla-cake-zrVanilla Cake is a delicious little cake that can be used in parties, desserts, to serve along with coffee… and it’s easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavour or butter flavour
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 7 tablespoons wheat flour
  • Ingredients for the syrup and filling
  • 1/2 can of dulce de leche
  • 1/2 a teacup water
  • 1 teacup sugar
  • Powdered sugar

How to make Vanilla Cake:

  • Start by mixing the eggs with the sugar for about 10 minutes until they form a consistent, fluffy and light dough.
  • Add the yeast and then gradually add the flour. Mix every time you add flour with a whisk.
  • Grease a baking dish. Then, using a dessert spoon, put small portions of dough on the surface of the baking dish. Don’t forget to leave a space between each portion. As an alternative, you can pour all the dough on a uniform layer on the baking dish.
  • Place the dough in the oven at 375ºF to 400ºF (180ºC to 200ºC) until it turns slightly golden and stiff.
  • Once it’s ready, remove the dough from the oven and unmould it.
  • Put it on the side. If you choose to bake the dough uniformly, unmould it onto a smooth surface and carefully cut it into any shape you like (squares, circles or others).
  • Then, start working on the filling. Place the dolce de leche on a recipient and stir it very well with a spoon. Spread the dolce de leche on top of one half of the dough you baked previously.
  • Place the rest of the dough on top of the dolce de leche like a sandwich. If you find it necessary, you can add about two spoons of powdered milk or smashed walnuts for each spoon of dolce de leche.
  • Making the syrup is the last step. Place water and sugar in a pan and heat the mix. Don’t stir it. Cook the mix for about 5 minutes.
  • After the cakes have their filling, wait until they cool a little. Then, dip them in the syrup and, lastly, in the powdered sugar.
